About Svetlana
I am Svetlana Kalinichenko, a botanical artist in Greenwich, Connecticut.
- Following my passion for botanical art and watercolor I completed the Distance Learning Diploma Course at the British Society of Botanical Artists in 2022.
- As a botanical artist, my passion lies in capturing the beauty and intricate details of the natural world. I am fascinated by the diversity of plants and flowers, and I love exploring the unique characteristics of each specimen. My artwork celebrates the wonders of nature, and through my compositions, I hope to inspire others to appreciate the diversity and complexity of the natural world.
- One of my favorite sources of inspiration is the local seashore habitat: Greenwich Point Park aka Tod’s Point where I am able to capture plants that thrive in this unique ecosystem. I find the delicate balance between land and sea, and the interactions between plants and their environment, to be particularly compelling. Through my artwork, I strive to showcase the beauty and resilience of these plants and to raise awareness of the importance of preserving these habitats.
- I am also drawn to the historical buildings that form the landscapes, and I often incorporate them into my compositions. I find that the geometrical beauty of man-made structures and natural beauty creates a unique and intriguing visual narrative.
- My preferred medium is watercolor, ink, and graphite, as these materials allow me to capture the delicate textures and hues of my subject matter. I work diligently to create a sense of depth and dimension in my pieces, while also emphasizing the intricate botanical details that make each plant unique.
- I love to share my passion for nature and history through my artwork. Whether it is through capturing the beauty of a single flower or showcasing the diversity of Long Island Sound shore. I hope to inspire others to appreciate and protect the natural world around us.
